RARS
RARSfest™ NEEDS YOU
Please volunteer a few hours in one or more of the following areas.
HINT: Instead of getting your own table, use the RARSfest Consignment Table to free up time to volunteer.
Thank you, RARSfest 2022 volunteers!
We hope to see you again next year!

RARSfest Staffing Requirements
Read the descriptions below, pick the areas you would like to work in.
You do not need to be a RARS member to volunteer!

Security
Tony O’Connor - K1OC
Schedule your time
This is the largest crew. We need volunteers to staff 51 “shift slots” on Friday from noon until 8:00 pm and on Saturday from 6:00 am until 4:00 pm. Each shift is two hours long. You can sign up for more than one shift. Security’s main jobs are to provide information and assistance to those attending RARSfest and to “observe and report.” Responsibilities include monitoring the entrances, politely steering people to the ticket sellers, monitoring the event floor, watching over vendors’ merchandise tables, and generally keeping things moving during setup and tear-down. You will need a VHF HT and a Technician class or higher amateur radio license. If you don't have a HT, we might be able find one to lend to you. If you don’t have an amateur radio license, you can sign up with a “buddy” who does. The Fairgrounds will also provide uniformed security officers throughout the event.
Admissions
Bob Chapman - NC1X
Schedule your time
Another big crew, second only to Security. We need to staff about 20 shifts to sell admission tickets the hamfest on Friday from noon untill 10 P.M. at the fleamarket entrance (overhead door), and on Saturday we cover all three entrances from 5:30 A.M. till 3 P.M.

This is a sit down job that sees a lot of faces. As attendees come in, we greet them and provide tickets. It is busiest on Saturday morning when the doors first open and those early shifts will require 2 people at each table so why not get your buddy to sign up to work with you.

Setup
Doug Sweet - AD4UL
Bernard Blackmon - W4BRB
Schedule your time
This is the third largest crew. They start setting up the floor on Friday morning preparing the layout before we can give the vendors access to their tables, then work with the vendors right up till the doors open to the public on Saturday. There is no minimum or maximum number needed - the more hands there are available the easier the job will be. This job requires gloves but the job is over in time to enjoy the hamfest.
Flea Market
Jeremy Lindsley - K2HJX
Flea Market duty is at the overhead door, checking folks in, assigning tables, etc. We need a few folks from Noon till 9:00 P.M. on Friday and from 5:30 A.M. till about 2:00 P.M. on Saturday.
Stage/Talk-In (Comm Center)
John Honeycutt - N8ZU
Schedule your time
Several workers are needed on Saturday to make announcements over PA, field questions, tend to the ticket barrel, and work the help desk, etc. This has always been an "all day" job for a few people instead of a 2-hour shift but there's plenty of opportunity to get away one at a time to roam the fest. The STAGE is open from 7 AM until just after the fest closes.

"Talk In" operates on Friday from Noon until about 6 PM and on Saturday from 6 AM until about 4 PM.
Teardown
Dave Thomas - K4SAN
Schedule your time
This crew is also known as the Dumpster Divers. When everyone else clears out, there may be some tables that need to be moved around to help dealers get out of the building. Then comes the Dumpster Diver fun. The tear down crew gets to clean up and dispose of any spoils that are left behind as they see fit.
Project Table
Alan Pitegoff - AB4OZ
Schedule your time
Project building has been a popular part of RARSFest in recent years. Several folks are needed to assist our guests as they assemble antennas or other projects.
RARS Member
Sales Tables

Tom Lewis - N4TL
Schedule your time
To make it easier for club members to work at the hamfest, they can leave items here to be sold while they work. Starting on Friday morning this crew tags and inventories items as they are brought in. The table is manned for sales all day Saturday.

Members are asked to pre-register their items for sale.
RARSfest Chair
Nancy Torborg - KB2TNR
